Twilight Breaking Dawn Part 2: 10 Reasons It Sucked

2. The Fake-Out Twist

The copout, fake-out twist during the climax of Breaking Dawn Part 2 nearly had me audibly scream in anger at how manipulative and idiotic it was. The stage is set for an epic showdown, it all kicks off, with heads being ripped off, main characters like Carlisle and Jasper dying with an odd lack of sentiment, and finally, Bella murdering Aro. However, everything then cuts suddenly back to Alice, who tells Aro that this is how things will end if he decides to fight them; it makes the last 10 minutes we've seen completely pointless, and as evidenced by the countless groans, sighs and laughs heard in my screening, it isn't exactly a satisfying turn of events. Basically, everyone's still alive, Aro basically decides not to kill Renesmee, and everyone goes home, so the climax is far from that; it's a complete anti-climax, which baits the viewer with awesomeness (as the final battle is easily the liveliest, best scene in the film) and then tells us that it was all just a possibility that doesn't happen. At least readers of the book had been let down gently...
