20 Insane Upcoming Movies You Won't Believe Are Real

It might make slightly more sense than a Toys 'R' Us movie, but is there anyone really chomping at the bit for a Labubu movie?

Sony recently announced their partnership with Chinese toy firm Pop Mart to develop a film based on their ludicrously popular range of collectable plush toys.

It's tough not to roll your eyes and groan loudly at the sheer lack of imagination here, at least until it was announced that the Labubu film will be directed by the great Paul King, who delivered above and beyond expectations with both Paddington and Wonka.

While there's admittedly a tad more to Labubu than the toys - given that it was originally a story series produced by illustrator Kasing Lung with a basis in Nordic folklore - even a filmmaker as inventive as King might struggle to make this one earn its keep.

That's without even broaching the fact that Labubu's popularity has already cooled quite a bit, and who knows if anyone will care about them at all by the time the film finally releases a few years from now.
