Incredibles 3 is undeniably one of the most anticipated upcoming animated films, even if the general response to the second film was a touch mixed.

Though it's disappointing that Brad Bird won't return to direct the threequel, he is staying on as screenwriter while Peter Sohn (The Good Dinosaur, Elemental) directs.

The bigger bone of contention for many fans, though, was Bird's recent confirmation that Incredibles 3 won't age up the central characters.

With Incredibles 2 picking up directly where the first film ended, the lack of character ageing made total sense, though considering that Incredibles 3 will release almost 25 years after the original film in 2028, the fan desire to see the Parr family grow up is understandable.

Bird has argued that he wants to keep the family "archetypal" characters who remain consistent across the series, though he might be underestimating both the emotional appeal of seeing these characters change, and also how noticeably the actors' voices have aged. 

Bob Parr's voice actor, Craig T. Nelson, is 82 years old after all...
