The marketing for Ridley Scott's new post-apocalyptic sci-fi thriller The Dog Stars doesn't exactly inspire a ton of confidence as it is, but box office analysts have already deemed the film doomed for an entirely different reason - its awful release date.
The Dog Stars drops on August 28th, and as anyone who knows much about box office will be aware, late August is basically a commercial dead-zone that almost guarantees a flop.
The problem with the release date is that it's too late to ride the summer blockbuster wave but also too early to get swept up in the buzzier awards season rush.
