20 Upcoming Movies Absolutely NOBODY Wants

15. Labubu

Hollywood's incessant desire to turn just about any Popular Thing into its own film is perfectly exemplified by the recent news that a Labubu movie is in development.

Sony Pictures will be teaming with Chinese toy company Pop Mart to produce a film based on their hugely popular line of collectible plush toys.

And while this sounds about as creatively bankrupt as it gets, there is one small sliver of hope - Sony has inexplicably roped in Paddington and Wonka director Paul King to helm.

Yet even accepting that Labubu's origins go back to a story series produced by illustrator Kasing Lung, which incorporates aspects of Nordic folklore, it hardly seems like there's enough meat on those narrative bones for a feature film.

Plus, given that Labubu's popularity is already beginning to cool, there's a strong possibility this film ends up incredibly late to the party by the time it releases - presumably a few years from now.
