20 Upcoming Movies That Just Got Cancelled

Late last year, it was announced that Meryl Streep and Sigourney Weaver would co-star in a New York-set thriller from Joseph Cedar, whose films Beaufort and Footnote were both nominated for the Best International Feature Film Oscar, with a script co-written by Oscar-winning scribe Callie Khouri (Thelma and Louise).

Streep was set to play Diane Castle, a veteran journalist who is fed up with writing puff pieces about luxury property and finds herself embroiled in a story centered around a mysterious oligarch, prompting her to dig deeper and uncover widespread corruption.

This all sounds very compelling on paper, and though shooting was initially set to begin in early 2026, in an interview with Weaver this past June, she revealed that it won't be happening.

Weaver didn't elaborate on what could cause such a potential-rich project to fall apart, but it's just a damn shame we won't get to see two of the finest actresses of their generation on screen together once again.
