15. Hawaii Five-O Reboot
The Jack Lord-starring police procedural drama series Hawaii Five-O was a mega-hit which ran from 1968 to 1980, and a reboot starring Alex O'Loughlin then aired between 2010 and 2020.
But rather than let the IP lie dormant for a while until people miss it, it was recently announced that Spider-Man: Brand New Day director Daniel Destin Cretton will be helming a big-screen adaptation, with a script co-written by Chris Bremner (Bad Boys for Life) and Noah Oppenheim (Jackie).
Various attempts have been made to produce a Hawaii Five-O movie since 1996, and while Cretton is certainly a talented filmmaker, are there really many folk who haven't had their fill of the franchise between the two TV shows?
At least with Cretton simultaneously developing his live-action Naruto movie, the next Spider-Man film, and the long-gestating Shang-Chi 2, there's a non-zero chance this one ends up stuck in development hell for the foreseeable future.
