Valentine's Day 2013: 10 Scenes In Which Hearts Are (Literally) Torn Out

6. Bride Of Re-Animator (1990)

BofR-A

The sequel to 1985's cult classic Re-Animator, The Bride of Re-Animator continues with the graphic gore that the original offering so memorably provided. Doctors Herbert West (Jeffrey Combs) and Dan Cain (Bruce Abbott) are working in the middle of a very bloody Peruvian civil war, giving them ample opportunity to test a re-animation compound (the "reagent," as it is referred to in the movie). West discovers that this reagent will re-animate body parts and, having conveniently found the heart of Cain's fiancée Megan in the hospital morgue, promises to re-animate a new Megan using suitable body parts. Anyway, to cut a long story short, the new bride is brought to life, but Cain rejects her. Heartbroken, she rips out Megan's heart from her own chest and literally falls to pieces due to tissue rejection - a consequence of the mish-mash of parts she is made of. Ridiculous, but charming in its own horrific way.
