Venom: 10 Mistakes Sony Must Avoid With The Spider-Man Spin-Off

1. Select The Wrong Venom

Eddie Brock isn't the only character to bond with the Venom symbiote, but he is the original and best - and the only optional as protagonist in the Hardy-fronted movie.

There are rumours that Sony is toying with the idea of focusing on the Flash Thompson - that all-round douche bag from Peter Parker's high school in the other Spidey films - incarnation of the deadly anti-hero, and while this approach could have its merits, it's the Brock version the fans want to see.

The original version of Venom would translate to screen well, with a tragic backstory to help maintain the audience's sympathy when he turns lethal protector and approaches that fine line between heroism and villainy.

Having Flash as Venom presents a issues for Sony, not least the fact that the character is due to appear in Spider-Man: Homecoming in full douche mode later this year.

All signs point to the studio heeding our advice and going with Brock - Hardy is certainly more Eddie than Flash, with a physique which would line up nicely with Brock's penchant for bodybuilding.
