Venom: 10 Scrapped Scenes And Characters Revealed By New Concept Art

1. "V" Is For "Venom"

Because Spider-Man wasn't part of Venom's origin story in the SPUMC (Sony Pictures' Universe of Marvel Characters), he didn't have any of the web-slinger's powers or that iconic logo across his chest. Sony attempted to recreate that with some random white markings, but many comic book fans struggled to forgive its absence in the movie.

In this piece of artwork, Venom finally has that...it's just a little too on the nose. A big, white "V" adorns the symbiote's chest, and while it matches those eyes of his, it's not overly hard to understand why the decision was made to give this a miss.

Should Spider-Man and Venom eventually cross paths on screen - which is said to be the plan given Tom Holland and Tom Hardy's interest in a crossover - then there are ways to give Venom his classic comic book look, but this probably isn't it. In the sequel, Andy Serkis is likely going to put his own spin on Venom, but hopefully not quite like this.

Plus, of all the logos they could have gone for, a "V"? That's definitely a little too hard to buy into!
