Venom 2: 10 Delightful Trailer Details & What Fans Think They Mean

In the comics, Cletus and Eddie met when they were sharing a cell in prison. Cletus is biding his time waiting to murder Eddie out of a mix of boredom and annoyance at his cellmate who is constantly working out. Eddie's symbiote appears and helps him escape. Venom was spawning at the time and leaves behind a symbiote child, Carnage - who bonds with Cletus.

The backstory for Eddie's and Cletus' meeting is already clearly different in the film. Eddie is working as a journalist, interviewing Cletus - so fans are curious if the film will also change Carnage's backstory. Will Carnage still be the child of Venom? It is possible that Venom could have spawned during one of the interviews? Maybe Carnage will simply be a new symbiote from their home planet.

There's also the question of whether other symbiotes might make an appearance. The trailer shows a detective named Mulligan. In the comics there is a police officer named Pat Mulligan who, in Venom vs. Carnage, becomes bonded with the spawn of Carnage. Fans are curious if this means the symbiote Toxin might also make an appearance.
