Venom 2: 10 Delightful Trailer Details & What Fans Think They Mean
2. Anne Weying
The Venom 2 trailer only features a brief clip of Anne Weying at a restaurant with Eddie. This has fans speculating with very little info to go off of. Anne is Eddie's ex-girlfriend. In the first film they break up because Eddie stole confidential information off her computer which led to them both getting fired.
Six months later she is in a committed relationship with Dr. Dan Lewis, a stand-up guy who helps Eddie multiple times through what he and Anne think is some sort of virus-induced mental break down. In the movie Eddie and Anne never get back together, but both Venom and Stan Lee (in his cameo as a dog walker) seem to be encouraging Eddie to keep the flame burning for his ex.
It seems like the initial intention was to set up a reconciliation between Eddie and Anne in the next film, but a lot of fans really liked the dynamic of Anne and her new beau. In an interview with actor Reid Scott about the decision to not have his character be antagonistic with Eddie, the interviewer noted that they were, "on team Dr. Dan."
Will Venom 2 keep the current dynamic between Anne and Dr. Dan, or will she find herself getting entangled with Eddie and Venom? It's always possible the movie will go the way of the comics and Anne will tragically commit suicide, but here's hoping the movie keeps things light and fun and gives us some more She-Venom.
