6. Jennifer Kent

Jennifer Kent is a name that a whole lot of people haven't been able to get off of their lips since 2014 and with good reason; that was the year the world was introduced to the Babadook.

Kent served as both the writer and director of the project, earning her double the amount of acclaim for the film, and it would serve Sony well to utilize Kent's talents on Venom 2. The Babadook was her debut film and showcased an absolutely jaw-dropping amount of creative restraint.

Kent was able to make a film that was a monster movie on the surface and a painfully intimate family drama about how sometimes the hatred between a parent and child is just as powerful as the love. That's no easy feat, but Kent makes it look like it was a walk in the park.

Considering just how romance heavy the first Venom was, it would be a delightfully twisted rebuttal for the sequel to really dig deep into the shared trauma and inherent hatred between not just Eddie Brock and Anne Weying, but also between Eddie and Venom.
