17. Carnage Gets The PG-13 Treatment

It can't be understated how thoroughly the film sanitises Carnage, from the ridiculous method through which he obtains the symbiote - biting Eddie's hand in prison - to his motivations revolving around reuniting with his lost love Frances rather than, you know, just loving killing people.

This only really feels like the Carnage of the comics in aesthetic terms, the supervillain otherwise neutered to be a more palatable, un-challenging antagonist who doesn't even forge a strong bond with Cletus.

It was a predictable approach considering the film's PG-13 rating, but damn, it's still hugely frustrating not seeing Carnage actually biting people's heads off and causing, well, proper R-rated carnage.
