Venom Trailer 2 Reactions: 2 Ups & 7 Downs

1. "Embrace Your Anti-Hero"

While the tagline isn't necessarily a reflection of the movie's quality itself, Venom's trailer does tout an especially low-effort, lazy one: "Embrace your anti-hero."

For starters, it's not catchy in the slightest, and hammers home the point with zero finesse that, yes, the bad guy you maybe remember from Spider-Man 3 is now meant to be a kinda-hero.

If you were hoping for a more morally ambiguous treatment of Eddie Brock in this film, it looks like Sony is going the broader, more profitable route of making him a cool bada** you'll effortlessly root for.

It's a stinker of a tagline, though, and hopefully it'll be quietly dropped for all future marketing.

As disappointing as the trailer is, what it gets right it pretty much totally nails. So, here's what promise Venom still holds...
