Walt Disney World's Guardian's Of The Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind: 5 Ups & 2 Downs
DOWNS...
2. Virtual Queue
The two ways that you can ride Guardians of the Galaxy Cosmic Rewind is either paying approximately $14 per person for an Individual Lightning Lane or to join the ride's Virtual Queue.
Guests who have an EPCOT park reservation can join the virtual queue at two different times, either 7am or 1pm. As the ride is so popular you need to try at EXACTLY those times in order to be given a Boarding Group and even then you aren't guaranteed to be successful. The main issue with this process is you have no idea what Boarding Group you will get until you are successful. Even then you are only given an estimated time which makes it incredibly difficult to plan your day, especially as you only have 1 hour to get to the ride once your boarding group is called.
From our experience the estimated times changed throughout the day and it caused us some stress. One occasion we had two hours before our estimated boarding time so decided to join a 60 minute queue for the new (and adorable) Remy's Ratatouille Adventure, only to be called to ride Guardians midway through our wait.
We had a similar issue the next time when we found ourselves over at Hollywood Studios and needed to dash over to make sure we got to ride, despite initially thinking we had 90 mins to get over to EPCOT before our Boarding Group would be called. It became clear that we couldn't plan anything within 90 mins of our estimated boarding time.
Our experience with Virtual Queue was that it added to our stress levels during the day. Though it was nice to not wait for hours in a physical queue, the Virtual Queue system wasn't the best experience for what is supposed to be a fun vacation.
