WandaVision: 10 Biggest Questions The MCU Must Answer
7. What Of The Darkhold From Agents Of SHIELD?
When fans were first introduced to Agatha Harkness, many turned their attention to the creepy book that was seen in her basement.
The main two theories were that this book was either the Darkhold or the Necronomicon. The former seemed unlikely due to the large role it had already played in Agents of SHIELD, but WandaVision's series finale ultimately confirmed that it was in fact the Darkhold that Agatha was reading from.
This immediately called into question the timeline and continuity of Agents of SHIELD, and if this was the same Darkhold that had played such a big part in Phil Coulson's life several years earlier. In both properties, the book plays a vital part in the story, yet are completely different in the design.
Does this mean that the Darkhold from Agents of SHIELD is a different one to the one that showed up in WandaVision? If so, where does that leave the ABC show in regards to the wider MCU? The movies have never acknowledged the events of the show before, but this would be the MCU actively contradicting them.
On the other hand, if the two shows are still on the same timeline as was previously thought, both using the same Darkhold, how did Agatha get her hands on it, and why does it have a completely different design? Whether the MCU is now actively retconning Agents of SHIELD or not, further questions will inevitably be raised about the Book of the Damned.
