2. Even The 3D Doesn't Suck

In the UK the movie was released under special 3D previews for its first three days in cinemas, which while frustrating for those who would prefer to avoid the divisive format, at least benefits from the care Fox has taken to ensure a solid presentation.

Even if you're forced to watch it in 3D, fear not, because while the film was converted to 3D in post-production, it is actually relatively effective for the most part, from the soldiers' infra-red sights beaming through dark hallways to the apes' fur to the larger-scale carnage later on.

Some of the darker scenes will probably pop a little better on a 2D screen, but the 3D doesn't draw too much attention to itself and is smartly subtle for the most part.
