War For The Planet Of The Apes Review: 10 Ups & 1 Down

1. It's The Best Of All The Apes Movies

War for the Planet of the Apes is not just a great sequel, but next to Toy Story 3 it's easily that rarest of achievements and one of the best threequels of all time.

Best of all, it's hard to believe this series nobody really asked to be rebooted with 2011's Rise has gone from strength to strength, to the point where there are calls for this third entry to grab a Best Picture Oscar nomination next year. It'd be more than deserving.

Even more so than the spectacular 1968 Charlton Heston movie, this is everything a Hollywood blockbuster should be: spectacular, stylistically audacious, superbly acted and emotionally resonant. The bar just got raised.
