20 Upcoming Horror Movies You Won't Believe Are Real

Sure to be one of next year's most timely and talked about horror films, Monitor follows Maggie (Brittany O’Grady), a young woman who works as a moderator for a YouTube-like streaming company, and when she flags one especially alarming video for deletion, it ends up fighting back.

That's right - Monitor is about a video which contains the spirit of a vicious, Freddy Krueger-esque entity, and gains power as the video spreads virally from one person to another. And once you've seen the video, it's too late to escape.

Since the film debuted at SXSW earlier this year, critics have largely likened it to a mash-up of The Ring and A Nightmare on Elm Street, albeit with a contemporary twist for the age of social media.

Don't be shocked if Monitor blows up when it releases next April, especially with Searchlight Pictures acquiring it for a splashy theatrical bow shortly after its premiere.
