Weitz Brothers' Very Long Playlist

Michael Cera is set to star in Chris and Paul Weitz's adaptation of popular teen book Nick and Nora's Infinite Playlist

I always enjoy discovering movies, or potential movies, that I€™ve never heard of, and Nick and Nora's Infinite Playlist certainly falls into that category. Chris and Paul Weitz have developed the project with writer Lorene Scafaria and lined up Peter Sollett to direct.

The movie is based on the teen novel by Rachel Cohn and David Levithan, publisher Random House have a synopsis for the book:

"It all starts when Nick asks Norah to be his girlfriend for five minutes. He only needs five minutes to avoid his ex-girlfriend, who€™s just walked in to his band€™s show. With a new guy. And then, with one kiss, Nick and Norah are off on an adventure set against the backdrop of New York City€”and smack in the middle of all the joy, anxiety, confusion, and excitement of a first date."

The premise isn't earth shattering (After Hours for Gen-Y?), but Superbad's Michael Cera is set to take the lead role and the Weitz brothers are usually pretty good at taking a corny or cliched idea and making something satisfying out of it - American Pie holds up surprisingly well on repeat viewings and About a Boy and In Good Company were great. The pair seem to get it right more often than not and this project seems to be right up their street.
