What Captain Marvel's Cast Look Like In The Comics

In The Comics:

When it comes to Marvel's 616 universe, Monica Rambeau has as big a history as Carol Danvers. She was even the first person to take on the Captain Marvel identity after the death of Mar-Vell, but - quite like Danvers herself - has adopted various different mantles over the years too.

In the comics, Monica is an African American woman who usually wears a black and white outfit with a black trenchcoat. She possesses cosmic powers, has led the Avengers plenty of times before and is one of Carol's closest friends in the comics, although she's also stood on her own for years without her.

In The Film:

There are two Rambeaus in Captain Marvel: Maria, played by Lashana Lynch; and Monica, portrayed by Akira Akbar. Maria is a fellow pilot for the USAF and goes by the callsign of Photon, which also happens to be one of the superhero names adopted by Monica in the comics.

Given the focus of MCU continuity tends to be on the here and now, it wouldn't be disingenuous to assume that Marvel are gearing up to have Monica take to the skies just like Carol did. She'll be in her mid-30s by the time Endgame comes around, and with plenty more Captain Marvel films still to come, there's a good chance that Photon will be one of the new heroes featured in Phase 4.
