7. Will Newt Scamander Return?

The big question for the sequels is whether Newt Scamander even actually needs to return. Yes, he's a leading man, but as the storyline moves closer to the wizarding war and the rise of Grindelwald (to the point of his face-off with Dumbledore), it has to become less invested in Scamander's story.

So at this stage, JK Rowling could actually drop him entirely to concentrate on Grindelwald's escape, and just allow the fans to fill in the gaps between now and Newt marrying Tina in the future (as confirmed by later canon).

But there is unfinished business between the two, and that pointed pause when the Dark Wizard and Scamander come face-to-face couldn't have been more pregnant. So, what keeps him tied to Grindelwald's story? There is a theory for that...
