What Does The Ending Of Fantastic Beasts Really Mean?
5. The Leda Lestrange Question
Though she only appears in a photograph in the first film, it has already been revealed by David Yates that Leda Lestrange - Scamander's complex childhood friend (and maybe more) - will make a full-on debut in the first sequel.
Obviously, her name is her most interesting feature, and Yates has said that he will be “a little damaged” and “confused”. Combining that with her links to Bellatrix's in-laws, it sounds a lot like her confusion relates to association with dark magic.
Could the devolution of her relationship with Scamander (which has to end for him to marry Tina eventually) be down to her turning to the dark side? Will she get involved in some way with Grindelwald and kick-start her family's obsession with the supremacy of pure bloods and magical superiority over muggles? It would certainly fit.
