There is a major hint towards Cliff's future, however, given that Tarantino has confirmed the character is based on real-life Hollywood stuntman Hal Needham, who collaborated frequently with Burt Reynolds in his heyday.

If Cliff's life followed a similar trajectory to Needham's - as we can safely assume it probably did - he ended up becoming a stunt co-ordinator and second-unit director by the early 1970s, before directing a string of successful action films throughout the '70s and '80s.

In Needham's case, this included the likes of Smokey and the Bandit, Hooper, and The Cannonball Run.

Heck, it's entirely possible the injuries Booth sustains from his encounter with the Manson Family are what ultimately prompt him to transition into a more hands-off approach to stunt work.
