In The Comics:

Interestingly enough, much like Sonny Burch, Ghost also got his start as an Iron Man villain. Wearing a bizarre white suit that grants him the ability to make objects (including himself) either intangible or invisible, Ghost is obsessed with sabotaging corporations he deems as corrupt.

Ghost has lent his talents to such factions as the Roxxon Oil Corporation and the Thunderbolts over the years. However, little is known about his backstory, save for the fact that he was once a data engineer. And despite the fact that he has been confirmed to be male, his true identity remains a mystery to this day.

In The Film:

Ghost received a serious overhaul in Ant-Man and the Wasp. Now portrayed by up-and-coming actress Hannah John-Kamen, Ghost's true identity is revealed as a young woman by the name of Ava Starr, who was cursed with her powers of invisibility and intangibility following a quantum realm-related lab accident that killed her parents.

Ava was eventually recruited by S.H.I.E.L.D., who gave her a new version of the classic Ghost suit meant to help her better control her involuntary abilities. Still a morally ambiguous character, Ava's main motivation is curing her condition by any means necessary.
