What Marvel's Black Panther Cast Look Like In The Comics
4. Okoye
In The Comics:
Okoye is one of the Dora Milaje, and a faithful warrior to T'Challa as his right hand woman. She was a friend of Nakia's, but unlike her, knew that her status as "wife in training" was ceremonial, and remained faithful to the king as a valet and guard, harbouring no untoward feelings.
She stayed by his side even at his toughest times. Identifiable, like most of the Dora, by her shaven head and face tattoos.
In The Film:
Playing a larger role as the General of the Dora, Okoye is a loyal protector to Wakanda and its royal family, as well as the one who trained T'Challa to fight.
She's one of the film's protagonists, always fighting alongside the king with Nakia. When Nakia spirits the queen mother and princess Shuri away, Okoye is torn between her loyalty to Wakanda and her love for the family she's spent most of her life protecting, but eventually reconciles the two when T'Challa proves himself a worthy king to fight for.
Played by Danai Gurira of Walking Dead fame, Okoye is one of the most memorable characters in the entire film - a dignified warrior and affectionate big sister both in one.
