What Marvel's Black Panther Cast Look Like In The Comics
5. Nakia
In The Comics:
A villain rather than an ally, Nakia was one of the Dora Milaje, obsessed with T'Challa since she was young. She was removed from her post when she attempted to murder T'Challa's former girlfriend, the American Monica Lynne.
After being nearly killed, she was revived by Killmonger with magic and was renamed Malice. As Malice, Nakia threatened the women in the Black Panther's life, and could only be stopped when the king threatened the village she grew up in as a response.
In The Film:
A daughter of the river tribe and spy for Wakanda to the outside world, Nakia was T'Challa's former lover, a humanitarian openly lobbying for Wakanda to assist the world in its struggles.
Though her beliefs more or less aligned with Killmonger's in terms of Wakanda's inaction, her loyalty to the royal family, as well as to T'Challa, have her spiriting Queen Ramonda and Shuri away to safety, working to bring stability back to the throne when Killmonger attempts to take over.
Played by the beautiful Lupita Nyong'o, Nakia is as much a protagonist in the film as T'Challa himself, with her complexity, her compassion, and her fighting spirit helping guide him on the right path as king.
