What Marvel's Black Panther Cast Look Like In The Comics
8. Everett Ross
In The Comics:
A bit of a comedic character, Everett Kenneth Ross worked for the US State Department as liaison to Wakanda, and was assigned to T'Challa and his entourage during his visit to America.
Ross, among other memorable experiences, sold his soul to the devil (or Marvel's version of the devil, Mephisto) for pants (trousers, not underwear) that would have another pair under them every time he tried to take them off, and was rescued by T'Challa from being stuck in hell. Later in more serious stories, he returned as liaison and the US government's go-to "Wakandan expert."
In The Films:
Played by Martin Freeman in what is a quintessential Martin Freeman archetype, Ross is a competent but out-of-his-depth agent of the CIA who gets involved in Wakandan issues after they save his life in the Black Panther film. He was also on site when the Winter Soldier was taken into custody in Captain America: Civil War.
Though much less comedic than his comics counterpart, Freeman bears more than a passing resemblance to the 'overwhelmed, but trying' agent Ross in the comics.
