What Spider-Man: Homecoming Cast Look Like In The Comics

8. Aunt May

In The Comics

The iconic adoptive aunt and guardian of Peter Parker, Aunt May has traditionally been characterised as very old and infirm enough for Peter to be concerned that the revelation of his secret double life would cause her to die of shock. She regularly doles out sage wisdom to Peter and once became romantically involved with Dr Otto Octavius, making things super awkward for Peter.

In The Film

A far younger version of May, Marisa Tomei's iteration is far more suited to Peter's age in the film: she's a fun, active auntie, and while some were apparently outraged at the idea of a "sexually active" May, she works perfectly. As in the comics, she discovers his identity and does not actually die.

7. Mr Harrington

In The Comics

In the comics, Roger Harrington is a former Midtown High teacher who was promoted to principal and hired Peter Parker to be his science teacher in 2001 arc Amazing Spider-Man #32. As with lots of key mentors figures in comics, kindly old timer Harrington ends up being killed in Friendly Neighborhood Spiderman #13 by the Chameleon.

In The Film

Played by Martin Starr (linking to fellow Freaks And Geeks star and Homecoming writer John Daly), Mr Harrington is the younger Decathlon coach, who is slightly defeatist and apparently lost a kid on a field-trip once.
