What The Avengers: Infinity War Cast Look Like In The Comics
17. Drax
In the Comics:
Originally a human saxophonist, Arthur Douglas's family was killed by Thanos on Earth, and his consciousness was transformed into a warrior bent solely on destroying Thanos as his nemesis. Memories of his old life were wiped out, and his quest to kill Thanos led him to be vengeful against those who were successful in destroying the Mad Titan before him.
He plays a major role in many of Thanos's attempts to destroy life, primarily by thwarting his plans at every turn.
In the Film:
A largely comedic character with the same tragic origins, though with no indication he was ever human, Drax joins the Guardians in the first film when they all get involved in fighting Ronan the Accuser. Though resembling his current comics counterpart, neither of the tattooed bruisers look remotely like the original Drax, whose costume involved a cape, skull brooch, and questionable tights.
He does, however, hold the same hatred for the Mad Titan, which gets him into some trouble during Infinity War, when he attempts to attack Thanos against his team's wishes.
Played comedically and effectively by actor and former wrestler Dave Bautista, Drax becomes one of the casualties of Thanos's culling at the end of the last film.
