7. The Dark Knight Rises (2012)
The Movie: Bruce Wayne takes on what is perhaps his most dangerous foe in the conclusive chapter of Christopher Nolan's trilogy. Though undoubtably ambitious and epic in scope, the third and final entry in
The Dark Knight trilogy still remains a somewhat messy - though visually impressive - affair. The plot doesn't seem to get into gear until well after an hour, and there are arguably far too many characters at work - some whom are essentially pointless and serve only to slow down the plot. It's likely that Nolan's ambitious nature got the better of him here, though there's no denying that this is still a hugely satisfying blockbuster, albeit one that, when compared to its predecessors, might be too bleak (and too ridiculous) for its own good.
What It Says About You: You were more excited about this movie coming out than your first 20 Christmases combined. You went on message boards and posted comments on websites exclaiming how you couldn't wait for what will surely be "the best film of the year - and maybe ever." You like to tell people that you understood what Bane was saying the whole time and that "it's definitely possible to punch somebody's spine back into their body if they knew how to do it." You have worked out all of the plot holes (which aren't plot holes, you'll say) and can explain each of them quickly and accurately off the top of your head. You also like films directed by David Fincher and occasionally play records by oft-forgotten heavy metal bands. You own at least one item of
Rises memorabilia. You thought
The Avengers was "sucky."
Soundbite: "The sudden hate for this movie is completely typical of today's movie-goers. They did the same for
Avatar, remember? That
was pretty lame, though, to be fair."
Favourite Movies: The Dark Knight, Man of Steel (pre-determined)
