What Your Favourite Star Trek Movie Says About You

Star Trek: Generations

William Shatner Captain James T Kirk And

Having said goodbye to the original crew, it was the time for the Next Generation crew to run with the movie franchise in their first big screen outing. But before that happened, even though the original crew had already had their farewell movie, some of the cast were brought back to say another farewell to Captain Kirk.

Originally Kirk, Spock & McCoy were wanted to be the baton passers but Leonard Nimoy said no and Deforest Kelly was too ill to get insurance. Only Shatner came to the party with James Doohan and Walter Koenig tagging along. But having William Shatner on board was key, because Generations was the movie where Kirk meets Picard and it was also the movie where Captain Kirk gets killed off.

The story revolved around a temporal phenomenon called the Nexus, a place where you could live out your perfect fantasy. A scientist named Soran wanted to get into the Nexus so that he could be back with his family that had been killed by the Borg, and he was prepared to kill millions of people to do it. Kirk gets trapped in the Nexus and meets Picard, who then join forces to take down Soran.

Star Trek: Generations is considered a missed opportunity by most. Not only was Kirk€™s death a lackluster letdown, people were hoping to see Kirk and Picard use their ingenuity on the bridge of the Enterprise. Instead we got an OAP fist fight in the Californian desert.

What It Says About You:

Like most fans, you dreamed about the Kirk meeting Picard and what would happen if they had to work together. Who cares if it wasn€™t on the bridge, all that matters is seeing these two iconic characters sharing the screen. Be it Freddy Vs Kruger or Stoya Vs Sasha Grey, when two worlds collide, there are sparks. And there are no two bigger worlds in sci-fi than Kirk and Picard.

Watching Kirk die was an emotionally charged moment in the cinema and you still think about it now. Captain Kirk and William Shatner was saying goodbye to Star Trek in the most final way possible. You smacked the seat in front of you and said €˜€™Damn€™€™ under your breath, as Kirk took his last. Yes, the death scene could have been better but what it represents is what is important. This is emotional movie making at its finest.

Alternatively, you could be glad they killed Kirk, finally the Next Generation can move away from Shatner€™s shadow and begin their own run of successful movies. It annoyed you that Shatner even appeared in this film when he had already had his sendoff in Star Trek VI. It only reinforces you belief that he is a limelight steeling egomaniac. So nothing makes you more happy than to see a bridge fall on his head. No more €˜€™Captain on the bridge€™€™ but more €˜€™Captain under the bridge.€™€™

Favorite Moment In The Film:
