5. The Mind Stone
Making its first appearance within The Avengers as Loki’s staff (known as the Scepter), the Mind Stone’s powers seems to have varied from the comics. Though it still appears to have abilities that somewhat showcase its namesake, i.e. controlling minds, the MCU’s Mind Stone has displayed a bizarre potential that’s far separated from its source material.
As hinted at in the first post-credits scene of Captain America: The Winter Soldier and then confirmed at the beginning of Avengers: Age of Ultron, the Scepter can grant powers to others. Through a variety of Hyrda experiments, the Mind Stone has bestowed powers upon Wanda and Pedro Maximoff, transforming them into Quiksilver and Scarlet Witch.
As far as Infinity Stones go in the MCU, the Mind Stone has had infinitely more exposure than the others. From being stuck in the Scepter to being lodged in Vision’s head, the Mind Stone has passed hands and spanned across many movies. From Thanos to Loki, from S.H.I.E.L.D to Hyrda (shown during the events of the Avengers: Age of Ultron Prelude comic), and from Ultron to Vision, the Mind Stone really gets around.
