1. By All Accounts, It's Great (And It Deserves It)
According to the first reviews of Ant-Man And The Wasp, the sequel is great. And not just as a "lower-level" MCU movie that aims to be funny rather than having real stakes.
The almost universally positive responses have talked up the humour (which is no surprise), but it comes along with heart (again, no surprise), personal stakes and the links to the Avengers movies that bookend it. Plus, the effects are brilliant and Paul Rudd does karaoke, so who knows what else you'd want from a movie experience.
Regardless of how invested you are in Avengers movies, you should go and see Ant-Man And The Wasp. Not just because it seems to be great (by all accounts), but because its success means that the MCU will continue to broaden out rather than being reduced to an excuse to release Avengers movies that can't do personal character stakes the same way.
And if you don't want that, you're not appreciating the MCU the right way, frankly.
