Why Ghostface Is Different In Scream VI

1. The Killer(s) Might Not Get Caught At The End

And finally, we can't help but speculate on how Scream VI's ending might offer up a totally different fate for Ghostface. That is to say, they might actually escape.

There have already been rumblings that Scream 7 - or, Scream VII? - is in the works in some fashion, effectively completing Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett's trilogy of post-Wes Craven Scream films.

And so, it'd certainly make sense if Scream VI was the first film in the series to end on an outright cliffhanger. The killer escapes, their identity perhaps even still a secret, setting up an epic finale which brings Sidney back into the fold if that pesky salary dispute can be resolved.

If we're dealing with the most vicious, cagiest Ghostface to date in this movie, it absolutely tracks that they'd be the most likely to get away.

This is especially true if there are indeed three or more killers doing the rounds, in turn creating enough of a smoke-screen for at least one to escape.

It'd certainly be a bold, radical twist for a Scream movie, and while it wouldn't leave all fans satisfied, would mark an intriguing break from the tradition of each film being relatively self-contained.
