Why King Arthur: Legend Of The Sword Flopped So Hard

5. The Ridiculous $175 Million Budget

For some God-forsaken reason, this film cost a jaw-dropping $175 million. To provide some perspective, that's more than Guardians of the Galaxy, Doctor Strange, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, Interstellar, Beauty and the Beast, Inception, Fast and Furious 6, Warcraft and Mad Max: Fury Road, to name just a few recent hits.

There's no way in Hell this movie should've cost more than about $100 million, because the risk is just way too high at almost double that. Sure, it's packed full of CGI, but that it cost more than many superhero movies suggests the budget was poorly allocated.

If Ghost in the Shell can be made for $110 million and xXx: Return of Xander Cage for $85 million, both CGI heavy-productions at that, it's staggering that King Arthur had such a comparatively bloated price tag.
