Why Star Trek Picard Season 2 Finale Didn't Suck (Or Did It?)

3. Elnor's A Zombie

Star Trek Picard Elnor
CBS

Ah, poor Evan Evagora. Having endeared himself wholeheartedly to audiences in the first season, we were slightly surprised to see Elnor unceremoniously offed in the third episode of the second season. Despite a few cameos in later episodes, this was largely it for the character. Only a last minute saving grace from Q brought him back.

Evagora is not returning for the third season of Picard, even though Elnor was brought back to life in the finale. This is distinctly odd, as both Seven and Raffi are confirmed for the next season. Arguably, Elnor's death was simply a tool to help Raffi grow as a character, despite the fact she has a son in the form of Gabriel - who still hasn't forgiven her, despite her vindication at the close of the first season.

The issue with the return of Elnor is less an issue of the finale, rather a problem with the storyline as a whole. It simply wasn't needed, and it cost Evagora screen-time in what would, ultimately, become his allegedly final season in Picard.
