Will Ferrell & Zach Galifianakis Will Get Political With Jay Roach!

Will Ferrell and Zach Galifianakis are teaming up with director Jay Roach (Dinner For Schmucks) and writers Chris Henchy (The Other Guys) and Shawn Harwell (HBO's Eastbound & Down) for a movie about two Presidential rivals, said to be timed for release close to the next US elections in 2012 (time flies doesn't it). The pitch went out to studios on Friday reports Deadline, with Warner Brothers winning out. Ferrell (currently being heard in Megamind) of course has form on this, having portrayed a certain politician on more than one occasion on stage and screen. So does Jay Roach who directed the 2008 tv drama Recount about the 2000 US election Florida vote, which garnered much praise and awards. So would we be getting a smart, biting satire about the machinations of two men on the campaign trail, in the style of say, In The Loop? I would wager you shouldn't get your hopes up, especially as Roach/Galifianakis' Dinner For Schmucks is probably a good indicator of the tone this movie will be aiming for. Not much is known just yet about the pitch but presumably the actors will play fictional characters, in a post-Obama America, who the candidates are trying to oust. Either Obama or a fictional Black President who is supposed to be Obama anyway. With the 2012 release date - expect this one to film next year.
