Wonder Woman: 10 Reasons It's Actually Overrated

7. The "Gang" Are Completely Wasted & Underutilized

One of the aspects of Wonder Woman that most people were probably looking forward to seeing the most was first hinted at in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, when audiences briefly glimpsed an old World War I photograph showing Wonder Woman, Steve Trevor, and a band of misfits.

After teasing us with what should have been a memorable band of heroes, Wonder Woman fails to deliver on this front completely, turning up forgettable secondary characters who fail to justify their place in the story.

So we get Charlie, a Scottish sharpshooter, Sameer, an Arab who wears a fez, and the awkwardly named "Chief," a Native American - and the movie almost tries to give these characters a reason to exist. Charlie, for instance, is damaged from the horrors of war, Chief is a drifter forced from his own land, and Sameer is comic relief, but it's not enough to save them from being largely forgettable.

Other than a few lines, they never feel like rounded characters, and some of what happens makes no sense. Charlie is enlisted as a crack sniper, for example, but he can't even fire his gun, and his arc - which isn't even arc, really - is quickly abandoned. Unfortunately, these guys are all rendered in a half-arsed fashion.
