Wonder Woman: 10 Reasons It's Actually Overrated

6. The Editing Is All Over The Place

One of the weirdest things about Wonder Woman is just how awkward the editing is across the span of the film, almost as if the work was done in a frenzied hurry and nobody checked afterwards to check that it all looked okay.

Frequently the movie cuts and we've got no idea how one shot lends itself to the next. In other places, the movie fails to establish the geography of a given space, making it impossible to follow the action. This is especially true during the final battle, which seems to exist - spatially, at least - in another dimension. In one notable shot, Diana jumps to retrieve her sword, and Ares just stands there.

During some of the other fight scenes, like the ones on the beach and in the French village, there are cuts which make no sense from a time perspective. Things don't appear to be happening at the same time, like they should be; instead time seems to randomly jump ahead a few seconds between shots, which is plainly odd. Somebody fires a weapon, for example, and the next shot is deployed too late.

Part of the film's comedic failings also stem from some weird editing choices, too, where jokes are killed due to the way that certain shots are spliced together. Take the scene where Steve is bathing and Diana pays him a visit, for example. The editor chooses to let the shots linger for as long as possible each time somebody speaks, essentially killing the rhythm of the comedy. A tighter edit could've saved this.

It's all incredibly choppy, at best - a real shame when you consider how elegant so many of the sequences could have been with a little tweaking.
