Wonder Woman: 18 WTF Moments

3. Most Of The Final Battle

The one area where Wonder Woman takes a real dip is in its third act, with the battle between Diana and Ares. After two great acts, it's a shame to see the movie revert so much to type and just have the standard CGI-fest as its denouement

It's not enough to ruin the movie, or even close, and of course one of the main reasons it doesn't work is because it's something we've seen so many times in comic book movies, and it's weird that this movie - which gets so much right, and stands apart in tone from the rest of the DCEU - goes to it at the end.

There are a couple of other moments within that overarching issue too, such as a strange cut with Wonder Woman, where she leaps up and lands back down, with the editor seemingly realising she doesn't have her sword when she's supposed to, while Ares just stands there. She also appears to fly, though it's unclear if that's actually what happens, whether or not it's a power she'll possess throughout the DCEU, or just while she was in God-mode.

Then there's the fact that Ares as a God still somehow looks rather like David Thewlis, which, as good as Thewlis is, seems improbable.
