Wonder Woman: 8 Characters Chris Pine Could Really Be Playing

8. Maxwell Lord

Unlike Batman and Superman, Wonder Woman isn't a character with a long list of great villains to square off against. Maxwell Lord isn't even really a Wonder Woman villain as such, but he would be an ideal foe for Diana in her first movie and an interesting choice for Chris Pine. The mind controlling bad guy has tried to bring the Justice League under his control and is part of a shady billion dollar corporation, making him a great foil for her. One of the biggest moments between Wonder Woman and Maxwell Lord came during the Infinite Crisis event. Using his abilities to make the Justice League fight each other (putting innocents in harm's way in the process), Diana realised that the only way to free Superman from his control was to kill him. Lord himself told her that when she used the Lasso of Truth on him, so Wonder Woman obliged, snapping his neck without any hesitation. That decision fractures the League, but it took Wonder Woman down some interesting paths, and Lord could easily be changed around a bit for this movie. There's definitely the potential for a great villain there anyway, and casting Pine in that role would be a drastic departure from his previous roles, making it far more exciting than him just playing Steve Trevor, the classic kind of hero character already seen in the actor's take on Captain Kirk.
