Wonder Woman Film: 5 Reasons Why It Should Follow Man Of Steel

batman-wonder-woman-jg_1024 In the coming months, Warner Bros. will be announcing their plan for the future of the DC Cinematic Universe. Nothing is known yet of what that announcement will entail. Undoubtedly, a Man of Steel sequel will be in the works but outside of that, anything else would be a surprise for the mainstream audience. WB/DC has a well documented history of playing it ultra-conservative when it comes to their superhero film properties. I'm not entirely convinced that conservative behavior won't continue but I'll still reserve final judgement for once the announcement is made. Until that time, there is plenty of time for speculation and debate about what the announcement should include. Check out my fellow What Culture contributor Sean Gerber's thoughts about the impending announcement. My thoughts, however, are focused on one superhero property for now. WB needs to do something substantial if they ever hope to make up any ground to Marvel in the superhero film genre arena. At this point, I don't believe they can catch them but they definitely have the potential to offer something that Marvel has no public plans to at this time. A superhero film franchise with a female in the lead role. A Wonder Woman superhero film franchise is long-overdue. The often rumored Wonder Woman script or scripts have been making no more progress than collecting new layers of dust on the shelves at WB. With the superhero film genre constantly growing in popularity, now is a better time than ever before than to begin to start offering true equality in the genre. WB/DC has an enormous opportunity in front of them and I've come up with five reasons why they should move forward with a Wonder Woman film and do so sooner rather than later.
