Wonder Woman Review: 10 Best Moments

6. The Germans Invade Themyscira

Wonder Woman Archer
Warner Bros.

After Steve is initially rescued from the waters of Themyscira by Diana, it's revealed that he's being pursued by German forces aware that he's a spy, leading to an epic confrontation as the Germans arrive on the shore of Themyscira to do battle with the Amazons.

General Antiope and her forces use their superior athleticism to do away with most of the soldiers in gloriously awesome fashion, though having not encountered guns before, they do suffer some losses along the way, including Antiope, who dies in Diana's arms while insisting that she's ready to head out into the world.

Yes, there's a little too much slow-motion and CGI at times, but in terms of depicting the Amazons in all of their awe-inspiring glory, it's a terrific scene with some real emotional heft thanks to Robin Wright's excellent performance as Antiope in particular.
