Wonder Woman Review: 7 Ups & 4 Downs

3. There's Too Much Slow-Motion

Wonder Woman
Warner Bros.

Some fans have been nervous that director Patty Jenkins may have made excessive use of slow-motion considering how abundantly it appears in the film's trailers, and unfortunately, their fears are mostly right.

Though Jenkins does a mostly rock solid job making the action coherent and entertaining, she also goes a little overboard with the slow-mo, to the point where it sometimes feels like she's attempting to ape Zack Snyder's own love for slow-mo.

At least there's no speed ramping, which can look awful, but it still means that some of the action beats end up looking cheesier than they need to. A little slow-mo here and there makes sense considering the speed with which Diana fights, but Jenkins basically ends up abusing it here.
