Wonder Woman Reviews: 10 Critical Reactions You Must See
3. The Disappointing Third Act
As evidenced by the complaints regarding the villain, the film - while largely praised - is not perfect. And if there's one area where there's something of an agreement among critics that the film falls down on, it's the third act. Another issue found in plenty of other comic book movies, Wonder Woman has the same troubles as many of its predecessors:
IGN refer to the third act fight as looking "like a video game boss battle from 2005". Empire references it as the film's biggest drawback, saying: "The last 20 minutes can’t avoid the clichéd, overly CG mistakes comic book movies seem cursed to repeat."
The Playlist (who do have one of the more negative reviews), write that "some of the story feels beholden to the Gods of vulgar third act noise."
Screen Crush also pick up on this problem, writing: "...While Jenkins and Heinberg hold a lot of the most tired comic clichés at bay, they give in to some of the worst of them in the finale, when Diana fights a Big Bad amidst a storm of murky special effects."
