Wonder Woman Trailer Review: 7 Ups & 4 Downs
2. The Period Setting
The most intriguing element of Wonder Woman (apart from the fact it might be a good DC movie) is its World War I setting. The shots of soldiers versus Amazonian warriors and the armour-clad Wonder Woman walking through trenches and bravely entering no man's land, is not only a somewhat heavy-handed feminist message but makes for some of the most impressive shots all told.
Wonder Woman's meeting with Steve Trevor in the comics originally took place in World War II but here they've pushed it back a few decades, no doubt to avoid comparisons with Captain America: The First Avenger and it looks to be working.
The era has been accurately realised whilst still maintaining that DC sheen and placing a superhero amongst this war torn reality promises to be a real sight.
