6. Sarah - Cobweb
2023's Cobweb is a tense and intriguing horror film in which a young boy, Peter (Woody Norman), becomes convinced that his parents (Lizzy Caplan and Anthony Starr) have sealed his unwanted sister, Sarah, in the walls of the family home.
Things get seriously twisted when Sarah convinces Peter to kill his parents, amid the belief that they are planning to imprison him in the walls next.
In the climax, Sarah finally emerges from the walls, where she's revealed to be a deformed woman with massive, bulging eyes and contorted limbs, causing her to resemble a humanoid spider of-sorts.
It's certainly a terrifying idea conceptually but again, it's all about the execution, and the film's low budget simply can't go far enough with its depiction of Sarah.
Instead, the close-ups of her face are more likely to rouse unintentional laughter, making it painfully clear that she should've remained cloaked in shadow for the entire runtime.
