10. Tabitha Smith
Whether you want to call her Boom-Boom, Boomer, or Meltdown, Tabitha Smith has been a long-standing member of X-Force and the New Mutants. Coming from a white trash family, she was rejected by her parents and went on the road, eventually ending up with X-Factor and later X-Force. With the power to generate time bombs of energy, plus her spunky attitude, there were some obvious parallels between her and Jubilee, who was introduced at a similar time (this was even addressed in the comics when the two characters met during The X-Tinction Agenda crossover). A longstanding trait with Tabitha has been the lack of a real father-figure, and shes looked to numerous places, from Cable to Wisdom to even Sabretooth to fill this role. She also became involved with X-Force leader Cannonball and later, after his departure from the team, with Sunspot. That could provide for some interesting romantic subplots in the film. Beyond that, despite the appearances of Rogue and Jubilee in the X-Men films, we still havent really gotten a spunky young female mutant. Tabitha could easily change that, showing us a girl who has faced some pretty dire circumstances, but still remains confident in herself and her abilities.
